PROSECCO MICÉL®: environmental sustainability in the wine sector

01 June 2022 - Sara Appoloni

In these days when the media are focused on the news regarding the presence of pesticides on one third of European fruit, I want to bring your attention to a winery in the Province of Treviso (Italy) that is a concrete model of sustainable development.

“I produce and vinify the grapes coming exclusively from my vineyards conducted with rigorous attention for the protection of the environment and the territory, without the use of chemical herbicides and with the use of depolluting fertilizers”. -This is how Michele Rasera, owner of Azienda Agricola Micél, declares.

The MICÉL® brand was born out of Michele Rasera's passion for the fertile land where he was born and raised. Michele has gathered experience from his early years, following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather, an expert cellarman with a passion for tradition, art and culture, who knew how to transform the good fruit of the vine into excellent wines. In addition to his passion and experience, Michele combined his studies as a land surveyor, and at only 20 years old he opened his own winery, thanks to the vineyards he inherited from his grandfather Egidio.

Micél wines are born exclusively in DOCG and DOC areas, in the renowned Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Michele's awareness that a great wine can be born from this small green heart led him to create the MICÉL brand, as Michele Rasera, who is in love with his land and his roots, is friendly called.

Growing the vineyard without chemical residues and environmental pollutants

It is possible to achieve a vineyard that is truly zero residue with the use of de-polluting fertilizers. As a result, you go to improve the content of sugars, acids, aromas and polyphenols determining the excellence of the grapes. All this translates into consumer safety, but not only that. Recent scientific research has shown how the use of BioAksxter® de-pollutant fertilizers increase biodiversity on farms, a factor of utmost importance these days to mitigate climate change and encourage higher quality production.

Gold medal quality

Speaking of superior production, you should know that bottles of Prosecco Micél® won 2 awards at the 41st Wine Exhibit Rive di Colbertaldo and Vidor:

  • 1st prize for Best Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore Spumante
  • 1st prize for Best Wine of Tradition
