Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI)
The pre-harvest interval (PHI) is the minimum number of days that must pass between the application of plant protection products and the harvest of agricultural products before they can be released for consumption.
This waiting period, which must be strictly observed, is the time between the last treatment on crops and the collection of the harvested produce. The duration of the PHI depends on various factors, including the toxicity of the active ingredient, its persistence, and other safety considerations. In general, it is established as a precautionary measure to minimize health risks for consumers.
The BioAksxter® decontaminating fertilizer is not subject to PHI and ensures chemical residue-free and toxin-free production. Its use is crucial for preventing and reducing the spread of plant diseases, especially when nearing harvest time, when applying products with a pre-harvest interval is no longer an option.
