Addressing kiwi diseases and other challenges
Dedicated to all kiwi growers who wish to improve and maintain the productivity of their orchards by addressing the related challenges.
Cultivating kiwifruit with BioAksxter® makes the crop significantly more profitable and protects farmers from increasing problems and the severe losses they cause. In recent years, winter frosts, uncontrolled proliferation of nematodes and root rot, and the infamous kiwifruit bacterial canker have hindered productivity and seriously threatened kiwi cultivation. While these issues may seem unrelated, they actually stem from the same underlying causes: soil depletion and the loss of the plant’s natural self-defense mechanisms.
It has been shown that using BioAksxter® on kiwifruit crops affected by bacterial canker and other resistant diseases is the only effective solution. By restoring microbial balance in the soil and enhancing the plant’s primary programming, it creates the essential conditions to resolve the following issues:
Kiwifruit Bacterial Canker
The antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties of BioAksxter® M31 Agriculture are highly effective in both preventing bacterial infections and containing and blocking the spread of the disease in already affected orchards:
- In yellow-fleshed varieties severely impacted by bacterial canker, the spread of the disease was halted, and the regrowth of pruned plants remained healthy, despite heavy autumn rainfall.
- Orchards located in infection hotspots and treated with BioAksxter® did not suffer significant bacterial attacks, even in fields adjacent to severely infected plots.
Kiwi Frost Damage
By strengthening the plant’s self-defense mechanisms and improving its programming ability, BioAksxter® increases frost resistance and ensures high fruit production even in case of damage:
- Hayward kiwi orchards that lost 50-55% of fruit buds still developed a higher number of inflorescences, maintaining yields between 250 and 300 quintals per hectare.
- Orchards that lost 70-80% of buds showed remarkable self-regeneration capacity, with uniform secondary shoot growth, no leaf curling or deformation, and well-balanced vegetation development.
Kiwi Plant Decline and Soil Fatigue
By rebalancing the microbial fauna and revitalizing the soil, BioAksxter® progressively resolves soil fatigue, reducing kiwi plant decline, nematode presence, and root diseases:
- In fields with annual plant mortality rates of 5-10% due to root diseases and decay, this phenomenon dropped to just 1-2% after one year of BioAksxter® treatment.
- Underperforming orchards, affected by soil fatigue and nematode infestations, returned to optimal productivity levels.
- Replanted orchards in soils cultivated for 25-30 years demonstrated uniform growth, rapid vegetative development, and earlier fruiting.
The key to successful kiwi cultivation is preventing these severe issues by applying BioAksxter® extensively, regularly, and consistently. In already infected orchards, prompt intervention with BioAksxter® is essential to contain disease spread and support the regeneration process.
